The Community Engagement Planning Process with Meridian CUSD #15 resulted in a clear direction, to reduce the number of campuses from four to two and concentrate resources to make these remaining two campuses healthy, safe, and educationally relevant.
The community investment in this process was essential in the successful passage of a 1% county-wide sales tax that provided funding for the project. This coupled with the State of Illinois School Construction Grant made their goals a reality. The new elementary facility received a 53,000 s.f. addition, including 32 classrooms in two stories and a 15,000 s.f. minor remodeling of the existing gymnasium and stage. The district's state-of-the-art educational facilities now support changing program needs for a future ready education. |
Meridian CUSD #15 was awarded $29 million through the State of Illinois’ Construction Grant Program to fund the work for Phase 2 of the Master Plan which included the elementary school.
