Faced with dated environments that were not serving a range of the residents' needs, Evenglow needed direction for creating the best home for their assisted living and independent living residents. Their existing seven-story Lodge building was occupied and would be difficult to renovate without going over budget and disrupting residents.

Rather than renovate their existing building, solutions were designed that could better serve each population's unique needs. Independent Living spaces will be situated in a new apartment-style building in the heart of town. As a part of the independent living building, a link to the Health Center will accommodate a multipurpose worship space, physical therapy / wellness and fitness spaces, and a new commercial production kitchen.

Assisted Living residents will be moved to a new building on Evenglow's 35-acre parcel in Pontiac. Along with apartments, the new spaces will include common living areas, a piano lounge, dining room, multi-purpose room, and wellness space.
The best interest of residents was the top priority for creating this master plan repositioning at Evenglow Lodge.

Details that make a difference.

Assisted Living:
  • Blends with the existing Evenglow Inn which has a traditional, Colonial feel
  • Cladding includes a brick skirt with lap siding above, and large windows throughout to let ample natural light into the resident apartments
  • Window detailing, corner boards, and hip and gabled rooflines reinforce the traditional design

Independent Living:
  • Features a contemporary look, respecting the surrounding residential neighborhood.
  • Cladding includes a brick base with residential style lap siding above, accented with a wood-look lap siding in key areas to provide warmth and texture
  • Balcony expressions create unique, architectural features on the façade.
