Currently, students from the School of Theatre & Dance are scattered throughout campus for classes, rehearsals and performances. Millikin’s program is such a highly collaborative one, it is essential that students and professionals have a place to call home, to interact together on a regular basis.
Millikin hired BLDD Architects to design the new Center for Theatre & Dance. This concept building is designed with these everyday performances at heart. From the outdoor spaces designed to highlight student art and performances, to the transparency of the dance studio that highlight the daily effort, discipline, and commitment behind every performance, this building exhibits learning by doing. Stairs transform into impromptu theaters, hillsides into amphitheaters, railings into ballet barres.
