21st century spaces support students as they work:
|
This project provides MacArthur High School with a new entry and site access. The performing arts area was remodeled and new laboratory space and media rich classrooms and common spaces were added. The existing library, cafeteria and classroom spaces were remodeled for a 21st century educational environment.

It was very important to the families and community members of the District that the renovated facilities would demonstrate a collegiate atmosphere where students could participate in collaborative learning activities.

Bringing a community together.
Through multiple programming work sessions with various stakeholder groups, a vision of the successful environment emerged. The programming process produced an educational specification for a 21st Century high school for 1,200 students that was “mapped” over the existing facility, identifying areas for remodeling and additions. 100% of the existing building was remodeled, and approximately 10% of additional program space was added to complete the transformation of the school from yesterday’s industrial preparedness model, to tomorrow’s skills sets incubator. New program spaces such as a recording studio, media bars, fitness and wellness areas, which naturally engage students, have been added.
Our high school renovations exceeded the expectations of our students, staff and
the community.
