The Advanced Technology Education Center at Kankakee Community College provides advanced training in emerging energy technologies and industries. Students learn about, assemble,then immediately use the solar panels, wind turbines and other equipment. Real-time monitoring and results are part of the program to maximize what students and faculty can achieve. 

​With classrooms, labs, and spaces for hands-on technical training in fields such as wind generation, solar-thermal, solar photo-voltaic systems, and electrical (National Electric Code NEC), ATEC helps to provide advanced hands-on training at Kankakee Community College.

The building is LEED-certified by the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environment Design: LEED Gold®.  LEED® is the preeminent program for the design, construction, maintenance and operations of high-performance green buildings.
This facility will educate in an important and growing area, energy technology. We strive to serve as a regional resource for renewable energy technicians and are devoted to being the best in the industry.
