The Beatrice C. Mayer Seniors Center will be a new addition to the existing Chicago Lighthouse for People Who are Blind or Visually Impaired.
The project will include a 1,500 SF addition featuring an entry lobby, a four-season multi-purpose lounge, and a music studio. In the existing building, approximately 9,250 SF of space will be renovated to provide an exercise studio, a computer lab, a social event space, a cafeteria, and an adult living services suite with a teaching kitchen. Exterior work will include approximately 5,000 SF of hardscape work and approximately 1,000 SF of softscape work.
A sculptural lighthouse structure on the southwest corner of the building will serve as a beacon of identity for the center.
